Harpers Ferry’s Snow Tubing Hill Opens for the Season

Head to West Virginia for a ride down the longest snow tubing hill on the East Coast.

The first flurries have not yet fallen in Northern Virginia, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a day in the snow. Snow Riders has announced that its snow tubing hill opens for the season Friday, November 21, in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia.

Snow Riders’ hill is 900 feet long, making it “the longest snow tubing hill in the east.” Thanks to two snowmaking machines that it says operate even in 70-degree weather, it has enough covering to open for visitors. Snow Riders says in a Facebook post that it’s the first snow tubing hill to open on the East Coast.

In the evenings, the slide turns into the Downhill Disco, with music and a light show.

The snow hill is open weekends only through November, then it will offer weekday and weekend availability through the rest of the winter. Sessions can be booked online in advance for 90-minute time slots. Tickets start at $34 per person.

New this year, the Harpers Ferry destination will also offer a holiday light show. The show includes a mountain trail with lights and holiday displays, including in the kids’ play area.

The holiday light show lasts about 30 to 60 minutes per guest. Tickets are $10.
