Virginia’s former Gov. Glenn Younkin has made a return to the private sector. Youngkin has joined Tysons-based company Red Cell LLC as a partner, chairman, and board member.
Prior to serving as governor, Youngkin was a co-CEO of global investment firm The Carlyle Group.
Red Cell was founded in 2020 by DC native Grant Verstandig. According to the company, it “launches, scales, and operates national security, cyber, and healthcare technology companies.”
“Red Cell is redefining the start-up and venture capital formula by bringing together true visionaries, deep sector and operating expertise, and capital — both their own funds and world-class venture partners. … My friend Grant Verstandig and the Red Cell leadership team have already launched numerous breakout companies in just a few years, and I’m excited to help them grow even faster.” Youngkin said in a release.
Youngkin’s appointment at Red Cell follows months of speculation about his future plans, including whether he would return to politics. On an April podcast episode of Hang Out With Sean Hannity, Youngkin said he was not inclined to run again as governor. But when Hannity asked if he had “more to give,” Youngkin replied, “I have more to give. I just do.”
