Have a Grape-Stomping Good Time at These 3 NoVA Wineries

These wineries allow you to partake in the messy tradition — and enjoy a glass of wine as a reward.

If you’ve ever watched the iconic I Love Lucy episode where Lucy Ricardo ends up knee-deep in a vat of grapes, you’ve probably thought, ‘That looks really fun.’ Northern Virginia wineries welcome you to live your own Lucy moment with real grape-stomping experiences that blend tradition, fun, and a little squishy between the toes. You’ll be sure to have a grape time.

Barrel Oak Winery & Brewery

Get ready to kick off harvest season at Barrel Oak Winery & Brewery with the Stomp Harvest Party on Saturday, September 27, from noon to 3 p.m. Guests can jump into the grapes for a true old-world winemaking experience, sip on seasonal wine flights, savor harvest bites and enjoy live music in the heart of Virginia wine country. Tickets are $50 per person. Reservations are required, so grab your spot today. 3623 Grove Ln, Delaplane

Bluemont Vineyard

Bluemont Vineyards offers grape stomping events Saturdays and Sundays in September.  Start with a brief tutorial before you plunge into the barrel and stomp away, creating your keepsake grape-stained tea towel as a memento. Adult tickets are $29. They include one welcome glass of seasonal sangria or a nonalcoholic beverage, the grape stomping experience, and the keepsake tea towel. 18755 Foggy Bottom Rd., Bluemont

Potomac Point Vineyard and Winery

Potomac Point Winery’s Harvest Party is Saturday, October 18 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Enjoy a full day of award-winning wines, local brews, and vineyard fun. Guests can stomp grapes, enjoy live music, savor bites, play lawn games, and explore the cellar on exclusive club member tours. It’s the winery’s only grape-stomping event of the year, making it a true harvest-season highlight. 275 Decatur Rd, Stafford
