4 places to have a fall picnic

These four spots, in NoVA and DC, are perfect for laying out a blanket and feasting on a fall picnic.

By Holly Gambrell September 25, 2020 at 11:00 am

Pack up your basket with your favorite snacks and a cozy blanket because it’s time for a fall picnic with your loved ones. Here are four great places to sit back, relax and feel the fall breeze.

Gravelly Point Park

Wish upon an airplane shooting across the sky on your picnic. Near Reagan National Airport, Gravelly Point Park gives you front-row seats to planes flying in and out of DC. // George Washington Memorial Parkway, Arlington

Burke Lake Park

If you want a side of adventure with your picnic, head to Burke Lake Park, where after you dine on the blanket you can fish, hike, kayak or ride the miniature train or carousel. // 7315 Ox Road, Fairfax Station

Great Falls Park

The waterfall at Great Falls Park is hard to beat, especially when it’s surrounded by views of the changing leaves. Cuddle up to your partner as you sip on apple cider and listen to the water rushing by. // 9200 Old Dominion Drive, McLean

Victura Park

Located at the Reach at the Kennedy Center, Victura Park is a great spot for a daytrip into DC with waterfront views, a pop-up wine garden, snacks and plenty of shade, just in case the sun’s still warm during the early days of the month. // 2700 F St. NW, Washington, DC
