There is no doubt yoga packs in benefits both physically and mentally. The practice alleviates stress, clears the mind, stretches and builds muscles. It is a practice people pay big bucks for at gyms, studios and with personal instructors. The problem is you can go to a class, calm yourself and then have it all wiped away with the simple act of driving home. Luckily for Northern Virginians, there are options for escape right here in the commonwealth at these yoga retreats.

Inn at Westwood Farm
Orange

Throughout the month, this inn is hosting a retreat that offers luxury accommodations, two yoga sessions per day, a two-course breakfast, afternoon appetizers with local wines and concierge services all in the setting of a 1910 farmhouse on 15 acres near Charlottesville. In your downtime, check out Montpelier for a bit of history, and you can stroll the lawns of the historic home. Enjoy a trip to a nearby winery, take to the water at the Rapidan River, or book treatments at the on-site spa.

Primland Resort
Meadows of Dan

Primland Resort is known for its luxurious and unique accommodations (what other Virginia resort has opulent treehouses outfitted with soaking tubs and flat-panel TVs with views of the Blue Ridge Mountains?), but what some may not know about are tailored yoga packages. Here, private yoga sessions can be booked to calm your body and mind. There are also meditation programs to bring mindfulness and help you achieve balance.

Yogaville
Buckingham

This fall (Nov. 17-19) Yogaville, a space focused on reflection and peace, is offering a program starting Friday night with yoga nidra, or yogic sleep, to start your unwinding process. The next morning a gentle yoga class awakens the body followed by some restorative practices, a nature walk and some meditation before ending the evening with a guest speaker. A Sunday recharge consists of mindful meditation and yin yoga to stretch out before the drive home. Lodging is on-site, and all meals are provided.
