Loudoun County volunteers to be honored in upcoming virtual event

Over 100 volunteers across 14 categories will be celebrated at the 2020 Outstanding Volunteer Awards event.

By Holly Gambrell July 16, 2020 at 2:36 pm

Volunteers are the backbone of society, helping to solve problems and ease discomfort in times of need, especially in our current COVID-19 era. On Friday, July 24, Loudoun Cares will celebrate the power of a philanthropic spirit by hosting its annual Outstanding Volunteer Awards ceremony, going virtual this year for the first time.

The event will honor more than 100 volunteers across 14 categories, recognizing locals who are making Loudoun County better through their volunteer efforts. There are adult, senior, youth and specialty categories, along with a Veterans Volunteer Award, which is a new addition to the lineup this year.

Attendees are encouraged to host a viewing party or a virtual happy hour to celebrate the volunteers, with the program running from 6 to 8 p.m. Registration can be found here.

The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors were also given the opportunity to recognize a volunteer in their district, while Chair-at-Large Phyllis Randall will recognize a Loudoun County volunteer as well.

Also new to this year’s celebration: Loudoun Cares announced the award that honors volunteers that have served Loudoun County for a decade or longer has been renamed the Judy Hines Service of a Lifetime Award to honor the award’s first recipient and longstanding Loudoun County philanthropist.
