Three Northern Virginia hotels have landed on Michelin Guide’s Key Hotels in the United States.
Hotel Burg, The Inn at Little Washington, and Salamander Middleburg were all on the 2026 list recognizing 359 hotels across the country with one, two, or three Michelin Keys.
Hotels are ranked similarly to Michelin-star restaurants. Each rating is based on five criteria: “excellence in architecture and interior design, quality and consistency of service, overall personality and character, value for the price, and a significant contribution to the neighborhood or setting.”
Northern Virginia Hotels
Hotel Burg and Salamander Middleburg both received one Michelin Key, while The Inn at Little Washington received two Keys. The Michelin Guide describes a One-Key hotel as “a very special stay;” Two-Key properties are considered “an exceptional stay.”
Hotel Burg opened in 2025 in an 1885 estate on South King Street in Leesburg. The 55-room hotel features traditional interiors with fireplaces and custom furnishings. The hotel’s Huntōn restaurant serves a hunt-inspired dinner menu, and the surrounding Loudoun County countryside is home to vineyards and equestrian estates.
Salamander Middleburg sits on a 340-acre estate in the Blue Ridge foothills. The 168-room resort focuses on equestrian activities, with stables and horse trails alongside a spa and restaurants. The property is one of the few Black-owned hotels included in the Michelin Guide’s selection.
About 70 miles west of DC, The Inn at Little Washington has 15 rooms with antique furnishings and colonial-inspired interiors. The country inn is closely tied to its restaurant, where chef Patrick O’Connell serves multi-course dinners. Guests can also have breakfast in their rooms or the Terrace Room and enjoy afternoon tea.
Virginia Hotels
Two other Virginia hotels made the 2026 selection: The Lodge at Primland, Auberge Collection and The Boulevard Inn. The Lodge at Primland received two Keys, while The Boulevard Inn received one Key.
Set on a 12,000-acre estate in Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains, The Lodge at Primland has 54 rooms, including chalet-style suites, cottages, and tree houses. The property has three restaurants, a spa, hiking trails, kayaking, outdoor yoga, and an 18-hole golf course.
The Boulevard Inn, a property with only five-rooms, occupies a 1914 Colonial Revival townhouse in Richmond. Its rooms feature high ceilings, detailed woodwork, and antique additions. The inn also offers a daily European-style breakfast.
DC Hotels
Seven Washington, DC, hotels also made the 2026 list. Rosewood Washington, DC, The Jefferson, and The Hay-Adams Hotel received two Keys. Fairmont Washington DC Gold Experience, Eaton DC, Pendry Washington DC – The Wharf, and Riggs Washington DC received one Key.
