Each fall, warm hues envelop Shenandoah National Park as its leaves turn red, orange, and gold. According to online foliage trackers, peak color has yet to arrive. But it might be time to start planning your visit.

More than Just Parks predicts maximum color at Shenandoah between October 19 and 22. Explore Fall similarly predicts the most vibrant shades around October 19.

Peak foliage is difficult to predict. Weather affects color by the hour, according to the park. Shenandoah provides weekly fall broadcasts on its website. A fall color report is also available.

Leaf peepers are encouraged to visit on weekdays or early in the morning to avoid crowds. Fall is the park’s busiest time of year. Park entrance is $30 per car.
