6 New Grocery Stores Are Coming Soon to Northern Virginia

New shopping options are popping up in Alexandria, Herndon, Oakton, Woodbridge, and more.

Everyone has a preference when it comes to grocery stores — whether it’s the one closest to home, the one with the best deals, or a business supporting local farmers. If you’re looking to switch up your weekly grocery trips, keep an eye on these new grocery stores coming to Northern Virginia.

Del Ray Farmhouse Market and Garden

Find local produce and farm goods at the new grocery store inside the Del Ray Farmhouse Market and Garden. The location, which opened this March, has been building out a “farm-to-market grocery store” inside the main building since opening, according to ALXnow. Still in its soft opening, shoppers will be able to find herbs, fresh produce, and farm finds, with an expanded selection available in the coming weeks. 1913 Mount Vernon Ave., Alexandria

Euro Foods Market

Explore the flavors of Europe at this new market in Oakton, which is opening on Friday, October 10. Shoppers will find a wide selection of sausages, cheeses, sweets, and other international delicacies. Stop by this weekend to receive 10 percent off everything in store. 2952-G Chain Bridge Rd., Oakton

Lidl

In less than a year this location on Centreville Road has transitioned from a Kohl’s to a Lidl. The new European-based supermarket is set to open on Wednesday, October 29. Those in attendance on opening day can receive free croissants and coffee. A Hobby Lobby and Planet Fitness, yet to announce an opening date, will sublease the remaining part of the building. 2110 Centreville Rd., Herndon

Publix

Southern transplants will be overjoyed to learn that another Publix is coming to Northern Virginia. With current locations in Fredericksburg and Stafford, the Manassas storefront will mark the grocery chain’s northern most location. Publix has not announced an opening timeframe.

Whole Foods Market Daily Shop

Mark your calendar for the October 23 opening of the new Whole Foods Market Daily Shop in Crystal City. The smaller scale store, which is the first location outside of New York City, will feature Whole Foods’ 365 brands along with other private label products and locally sourced DMV items. The first 300 guests will receive a limited-edition Crystal City tote bag full and samples of locally sourced goods. 1550 Crystal Dr., Arlington

Potomac Shores Town Center

A new 49,000-square-foot grocery store is planned for the Potomac Shores community in Dumfries, according to Patch. The store name will be announced after zoning is approved. No opening timeline has been announced. Route 1 and Route 234, Dumfries
