Autumn is here, and it’s time for cozy sweaters, warm beverages, and to stock up on pumpkins, mums, and all the fun fall décor.
After all, does it really feel like autumn until you’ve decorated? Luckily, Northern Virginia has plenty of places where you can find that fall décor. Here are some worth checking out.
Betty’s Azalea Ranch
Spanning more than 16 acres, this ranch offers a wide selection of shrubs, trees, annuals, perennials, and specialty plants. Their Japanese maples and shade trees are in season now for fall foliage, while their azaleas and rhododendrons will be ready to plant in the spring. Betty’s is also one of the few garden centers in NoVA with a dedicated water gardening and pond supply department. 2507 Rte. 29, Fairfax
Burke Nursery & Garden Centre
Take a trip to Burke and check out the fall-themed market going on now through October 31, featuring seasonal treats, Halloween decorations, a pumpkin patch, pony rides, and more. Find mums (in white, orange, pink, lavender, coral, and salmon), asters, pansies, straw bales, and corn stalks for your fall displays and garden. The nursery has garden art, as well as pottery and indoor houseplants. 9401 Burke Rd., Burke
Cox Farms
Shop for pumpkins, gourds, hay bales, and ornamental corns to put on your porch or deck this fall. Other seasonal items at the family-owned farm market include yard art, like scarecrows, and indoor trinkets. Once you’ve figured out how to make your home festive for fall and picked up a few baked goods, check out the Cox Farms Fall Festival, one of the largest seasonal events in the DMV area. It runs Thursdays through Mondays through November 9. 15621 Braddock Rd., Centreville
DePaul’s Urban Farm
Between pumpkins straight from the patch and stunningly colorful combination mums, you’ll find yourself overwhelmed by the selection here. Mix and match gourds and pumpkins to make an indoor fall décor basket or cornucopia. Tuck autumn foliage and native plants into your outdoor pumpkin display. Select some autumn housewares, pottery, soaps, or candles at the cottage garden shop. And once you’ve picked up your decorating items, treat yourself to a delicious apple cider doughnut. The farm is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. 2599 Chain Bridge Rd., Vienna
Greenstreet Gardens
Stock up on autumn flowers and seasonal gifts at this Alexandria garden center. You’ll find sunflower plants that you can build fall décor displays around, plus plenty of mums in a variety of colors. And because Greenstreet plants its mums at different times, you can find some that will bloom into early November. 1721 W. Braddock Rd., Alexandria

Meadows Farms
Spruce up your garden or front porch with fall-blooming annuals and perennials including mums, pansies, and asters from this nursery chain. For hands-off gardeners, they offer a variety of planting and landscaping services. Several Meadows Farms locations are also hosting fall festivals throughout the month of October.
