Northern Virginia fans of Ikea will have one less location to visit. The Swedish home furnishings brand is closing up its showroom in Fairfax Corner, Washington Business Journal reported. The Georgetown showroom is also set to close.
The Fairfax Corner location was one of the brand’s smaller-format showrooms. The showrooms allow customers to view and order items for future pickup or delivery. They staff Ikea consultants to help customers plan projects such as kitchen redesigns.
Ikea notified customers that the Fairfax Corner location is closing on November 30. The Georgetown showroom at 3307 M St., NW, in DC will close on October 18, WBJ reported.

Ikea opened a new 107,000-square-foot store in June in the former Dulles Expo Center space in Chantilly. The store displays staged rooms with more than 7,700 items on display; 4,400 are available for immediate purchase. Larger items can be purchased online for in-store pickup or home delivery.
