3 New Businesses Are Opening at Fairfax Corner

Shoppers will soon find two new retailers. Plus, a much-anticipated eatery opens this week.

There’s good news for fans of Ruthie’s All-Day. The new Fairfax Corner location, situated across from REI, opens for dinner on Wednesday, April 15.

The highly anticipated restaurant — which has appeared our Best Restaurants list since 2021 — will begin serving breakfast and lunch the week of April 20.

Chef Matt Hill’s popular Southern comfort eatery offers a “modern take on meat and three,” including buttermilk biscuits and smoked barbecue and brisket. The new location features seating for more than 200 guests. It includes an outdoor patio and full bar.

New Retail

Fairfax Corner shoppers will also soon have two additional retail options.

Los Angeles–based furniture company Joybird is moving into 11948 Grand Commons Ave. The store, which specializes in customizable home furnishings with a focus on modern and midcentury design, is set to open later this year.

The Joybird space is currently occupied by the King Arthur Baking Company pop-up. King Arthur announced in February that it is opening a permanent location in Alexandria at the end of the summer.

Fairfax Corner is also adding a Sephora. The retailer sells a wide range of beauty products such as makeup, skin care, and fragrances. It will occupy the former Loft space at 11922 Grand Commons Ave. The store is slated to open next year.
