Northern Virginia will soon have a new grocery store in the mix. Publix Super Markets announced that it has executed a lease for a new Manassas location. This will be the Florida-based chain’s northernmost location in the U.S.
The more than 50,000-square-foot grocery store is planned for Ashland Square in Manassas, which is located at the northwest corner of Dumfries Road and Spriggs Road. In a release, Publix says the new store will employ approximately 150 associates.
“We are excited to continue our growth across Virginia with new location in Manassas,” Publix media relations manager Jared Glover said. “We look forward to making grocery shopping a pleasure for our new customers soon.”
Publix said an opening timeframe has not yet been determined.
The largest employee-owned company in the U.S., Publix has more 1,400 stores and more than 260,000 employees. The chain’s website lists more than 20 current Virginia locations, including one in Stafford and two in Fredericksburg.
