Food shopping can be a bit mundane, but having a broader selection of grocery stores can help make the task a little more fun. And luckily, Northern Virginia is set to have even more options for places to shop for food and household items. Whether you’re looking for clean, organic products or more bang for your buck, these four new grocery stores cover all the bases.
Whole Foods
While a grand opening date is still unknown, construction has been underway for the new Whole Foods Market location in the Spectrum at Reston Town Center (formerly Best Buy). The grocery store is set to move from its current location in the Plaza America shopping center. Whole Foods is a top choice among shoppers looking for natural and organic food options. 11846 Spectrum Center, Reston
Sprouts Farmers Market
A Sprouts Farmers Market will be taking over the vacant Giant space in Arlington’s Lyon Village shopping center. This will make the fourth location in Northern Virginia for Sprouts, with others in Herndon, Manassas, and Leesburg. Sprouts Farmers Market offers organic, carefully curated products as well as lifestyle-friendly options such gluten-free and plant-based. 3115 Langston Blvd., Arlington
Lidl
Another Lidl location is coming to Northern Virginia, this time in Idylwood Plaza in Falls Church. The German discount grocery chain will be taking the place of a former Whole Foods Market. While an exact opening date for this location is not yet known, there are several others throughout Northern Virginia to check out if you want to get an idea of what the store will offer. 7511 Leesburg Pike, Falls Church
La Casita
Located in Purcellville, this small grocery store provides another option for everyday household items as well as spices, tortillas, snacks, drinks, and more. Be sure to keep your eye out for the deli which will be added in the coming months and features fresh, hot pupusas. 170 W. Main St., #100, Purcellville
