7 Cabin Rentals within a 2-Hour Drive of NoVA 

Need a winter escape? Cabins today range from rustic to modern to treehouses.

Whether you’re looking for a huge family reunion or an intimate getaway with your partner, you can escape the winter doldrums. Check out these cabin rentals that are within a two-hour drive of Northern Virginia.  

Spacious Rixeyville Log Cabin 

Distance from Dulles: Approximately 1 hour 

This spacious log cabin sleeps up to 12 people, which is perfect for getting a group of friends together or planning a weekend reunion with extended family. The rental includes a jacuzzi, basketball half court, and sits on 13 acres to explore. If you’d like to get out and about, Shenandoah National Park is nearby for some winter hikes. You’ll find plenty of shopping, wineries, and breweries nearby too. Keep in mind, pets are not allowed at this rental. Rixeyville 

Linden Cabin in Virginia Wine Country 

Distance from Dulles: Approximately 1 hour 

A fully renovated chalet style cabin, the Whiskey Hill Cabin is based on a classic 1960s design. The cabin overlooks the Shenandoah Valley and all its winter glory. Over 10 wineries are a short drive from the rental, which sleeps four. As fireplace wood stove is available for guest use. Be advised, the rental does mention that the interior loft stairs are not suitable for children. Pets are not welcome. 

A Winter Escape to Front Royal 

Distance from Dulles: Approximately 1 hour 

Sapphire Ridge is a peaceful place for a relaxing couple’s weekend, although it does have three bedrooms and sleeps six. Hiking and s’mores are great activity options. An evening in the hot tub is a must-do. Pets are not allowed. The rental has multiple positive reviews touching on its cleanliness and listing accuracy. 

Gigantic Charles Town, West Virginia, Log Home 

Distance from Dulles: Approximately 1 hour 

Bring the whole crew (seriously, it sleeps 30!) to this 15,000-square-foot home on 10 acres. The West Virginia rental has beautiful views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and is near Harpers Ferry and lots of wineries and breweries. The rental includes a game room, spacious hot tub, a gym, and fire pits for on-site entertainment. Up to two pets (dogs or cats only) weighing 50 pounds. or less are permitted. 

An Intimate Warrenton Cottage 

Distance from Dulles: 40 minutes 

This nearby getaway is a 1,000-square-foot ranch-style home with three bedrooms and one bathroom. Given its location in Fauquier County, the bedrooms all display a hunt, horse, and wine country theme. The rental includes access to a classic turntable for a romantic evening listening to vintage vinyls. There’s also an outdoor fire pit for cozy nights toasting marshmallows or sipping wine. No pets, smoking, or vaping is permitted. 

A Tranquil Fredericksburg Spot 

Distance from Dulles: 1 hour, 20 minutes 

This peaceful two-bedroom, full bathroom cabin is made of natural hickory and oak for a truly rustic feel. A well-stocked fire pit and privacy fence surrounding the property makes it a great escape for a small family. The rental is 20 minutes from historic downtown Fredericksburg. 

A Waterford Treehouse for the Young (and Young at Heart) 

Distance from Dulles: 40 minutes 

Experience a long weekend in an actual two-bedroom treehouse in Waterford — just outside the Village of Waterford, off a two-mile gravel road. Keep in mind, given this rental is a treehouse, it is accessible by a steep and narrow spiral staircase. The second floor is only accessible via a steep spiral staircase. There are fire pits, complimentary Wi-Fi, and guests are welcome to explore the woods directly behind the treehouse that lead down to a creek.
