Alexandria’s Summer Sidewalk Sale Announces 2020 Dates

The popular, social distancing-friendly sale returns to the streets of Old Town and Del Ray in mid-August.

By Katie Bianco July 28, 2020 at 4:28 pm

Here’s some good news for those among us who miss the thrill of the (fashion) hunt: The Alexandria Summer Sidewalk Sale is returning for its 11th year on Saturday, Aug. 15 and Sunday, Aug. 16.

While the pandemic has kept many small businesses either shuttered or operating at a reduced capacity, the beloved sale—organized by Visit Alexandria in partnership with the city of Alexandria, Old Town Boutique District, Old Town Business Association and Del Ray Business Association—will offer shoppers the chance to stroll outdoors (in masks while social distancing, of course) and browse (remember browsing?) the wares of 50-plus local boutiques. Even better? All participating storefronts are offering deeply discounted summer merchandise.

Look for everything from fashion and jewelry to home decor, culinary items and seasonal gifts during the outdoor sale. Returning and new participants this year in Old Town include: donna lewis, TSALT, Twist Boutique and Imagine Artwear in apparel; Italian leather goods from Serafino; jewelry from She’s Unique and Silver Parrot; home decor and gifts from Boxwood and Patina Polished Living; and wine and gifts from Wine Gallery 108 and Sonoma Cellar. Del Ray boutiques this year include home goods store La Brocante and clothing and accessories store Top it Off.

Shoppers will be able to take advantage of free parking in Old Town and Del Ray during the two-day sale. As the big weekend approaches, stay tuned for more details, including a map of participating vendors and giveaways on Visit Alexandria’s Instagram (@VisitAlexVA)

The city of Alexandria will provide free parking at meters in Old Town on both Saturday and Sunday and street parking is always free in Del Ray.
