The St. James, a massive, gleaming sports complex in Springfield, opened its doors this weekend and gave sports enthusiasts their first look at the much-anticipated campus. The 20-acre indoor health and wellness center includes FIFA regulation-sized turf fields, a 50-meter Olympic-sized swimming pool (plus an adjacent indoor water park), batting cages, a gymnastics center, climbing and bouldering wall, basketball courts, a state-of-the-art health center and—when you’ve run out of energy from all that sporting—a spa. St. James offers three stories and 6,000 square feet of space to climb. The Field House is home to a FIFA regulation-sized turf field (the only one of its kind in the region) and welcomes all turf sports like soccer and rugby. The yoga studio is just the start at the St. James health club. It also includes 50,000 square feet of cardio and strength training equipment, spinning, group class space, a high-performance training center and even childcare options. Youth hockey hit the ice on Saturday. The Ice House at St. James has two NHL regulation-sized ice rinks, plus a skating treadmill.
