Easy Being Cheesy
It’s cold! Though soup dishes may win the general consensus for edible ways to warm up, I’m not really a broth person. That’s why I’m splitting the difference with meaty quesadillas dipped in consommé. I’m talking about the quesabirria at one of my favorite Mexican restaurants, La China Poblana in Manassas. –Alice Levitt, food editor/critic
The Scottish Play
The Tragedy of Macbeth is playing at all the local theaters that host indie flicks, and the combo of a Coen brother and Expressionist cinematography makes for a new approach to adapting Shakespeare that’s going to be hard to beat–and the right level of bleakness for a frigid February night. –James Finley, senior editor
Sale Away
I will beat a path to Alexandria, come rain, snow, or sleet, for its annual Warehouse Sale featuring more than 60 boutiques. I’ve heard about this event, but as someone still relatively new to the area, this is my very first time actually going! –Kelly Kendall, editor
Ice Ice Baby
Anyone that knows me, knows that I am a huge hockey fan. While I know pretty much everything about the Capitals, I have always felt like I’ve missed out on a part of the game because I never learned how to skate. I’ve tried off and on since middle school without avail, but after a five year hiatus it’s time to hit the ice once again. After work, I’ll be hitting up Reston Town Center Pavilion’s outdoor ice rink to try and finally get this skating thing down. –Michele Kettner, associate digital & research editor
