Cinephiles will flock to Reston Town Center next month for the 14th annual Washington West Film Festival. This film fest features a lineup of high-profile and independent films, playing in Reston from October 9 to 13.
This year’s festival includes 38 films, including documentaries, short films, feature-length films, and anniversary screenings of classic movies. Proceeds from this event benefit projects that support children who don’t have enough resources.
Most events take place at the LOOK Dine-In Cinemas in Reston Town Center, with some select events in the Reston Town Center Pavilion or the Reston Community Center. Tickets range from about $20 to $30 per event.

Another notable event is In Waves and War, a documentary about veterans with PTSD and the potential uses of psychedelics for treatment. There will be a screening at 6:15 p.m. on October 11.
There will be a 30th anniversary screening of Apollo 13, with Sen. Bill Nelson, a recent NASA administrator, present for a post-screening panel. The screening is at 3:15 p.m. on October 12.
