Where to See Fireworks
Across NoVA, you will find fireworks every night from July 1–July 4. Daylong events are planned at some locations. Others will have just fireworks. If you are going to DC, Metro will be free after 5 p.m.
Super Mario Bros. Movie @ Met
Friday, June 30, 7–9 p.m.
Do you have kids or are you a kid at heart? Indulge the Mario excitement with a viewing of Super Mario Bros. The film will play at Metropolitan Park. Blankets will be given out, but you can also bring a lawn chair. The movie starts at 7 p.m., but you are welcome to arrive early to grab a bite to eat at one of the food trucks. Red, White, n’ Brew 5K
Saturday, July 1, 8 a.m.–12 p.m.
There’s something about a holiday that brings out the athlete in everyone. Channel your inner runner (or casual walker) at House 6 Brewing Co.’s Fourth of July-inspired race. The event features the Red, White, and Blue 5K, the 1K Stars and Stripes Fun Run, and the Red White and Brew Hot Dog Mile. Diana Ross
Saturday, July 1, 8 p.m.

Red, White, and Blueberry Wine and Pie Pairing
July 1–4

Tales from the Neighborhood Café
Sunday, July 2, 2–4 p.m.
Share in the love, success, and struggles of an eclectic cast of characters at a tight-kit community coffee shop in the indie film, Tales from a Neighborhood Café. The narrative was filmed at St. Elmo’s Coffee Pub in Alexandria. The 41-minute screening at the Charles E. Beatley Jr. Central Library will be followed by a Q&A with the director, cast, and crew. Aria Jukebox
Sunday, July 2, 2 p.m.
Rising Opera stars selected for Wolf Trap’s Filene Artist Residency will performs. Except this time, there’s a twist: the audience gets to vote on which arias they’ll sing. Voting starts at 12:30 p.m. at The Barns. 1635 Trap Rd., Vienna, $38–$52
Firecracker 5K For The Troops
Tuesday, July 4, 8 a.m.
Get your exercise in and support a good cause. Hosted at Reston Town Center and presented by Leidos, the event has a 5K for runners and walkers and a Tot Trot. The race will benefit USO National Capital District, an organization that provides important services to active-duty service members and their families. Market St., Reston, $30–$45
Party at Shipgarten
Tuesday, July 4, 11 a.m.–2 a.m.
Don’t want the July 4 fun to end? Stay a while at Shipgarten’s all-day celebration. The event is family- and dogfriendly with a mix of entertainment. The drink selection will feature over 40 beer and cider samples and red, white, and blue shooters. The celebration will also include a water balloon toss, outdoor games,food, and a kids area. Animalia
Through July 30
This new exhibit at the Torpedo Factory Art Center demonstrates the undeniable connections between artists and the animal kingdom.
