Are you missing in-person lectures, keynote speeches and the ever-popular TEDx events? So are we. And although we’re not quite sure when they’ll be held in person, in front of large crowds again, we do have good news to put on your radar: TEDXPearlStreet recently announced the date for its inaugural DC-based event.

The event, which will be held virtual on Saturday, July 18, will feature a day full of livestreamed talks from innovators and artists addressing the theme “Leading Change.”

Speakers include Dr. Marty Makary, a New York Times bestselling author, Johns Hopkins surgeon and a professor of public health; Daisy Auger-Dominguez, the chief people officer at VICE Media, a workplace culture shaper and a human capital strategist; Kith/Kin executive chef Kwame Onwuachi, a Top Chef contestant and author of Notes from a Young Black Chef; Halim Flowers, writer, spoken-word performer and Halcyon Arts Lab fellow; Jessica Hall, the vice president of product strategy and design at 3Pillar Global and co-author of The Product Mindset: Succeed in the Digital Economy by Changing the Way Your Organization Thinks; and humanitarian Jessica Buchanan, who is also a New York Times bestselling author and survivor of a kidnapping by Somali pirates.

TEDxPearlStreet is led by Kim Cayce, a DMV local and the CEO of Luna Startup Labs. “We’ve faced challenges in bringing this new event to life in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, but thanks to the enthusiasm of our incredible speakers and the dedication of the TEDxPearlStreet team we have embraced every change and created something we’re all proud of,” she said in a recent press release. “TEDxPearlStreet is going to be an illuminating and inspiring experience for everyone who looks out at our world with a desire to change it for the better.”

The TEDxPearlStreet team is giving away the first 500 tickets to the event, which can be claimed through the ticketing page while supplies last. Find out more at tedxpearlstreet.com.
