Literary classics like The Giver and Much Ado About Nothing will come to life on stages across Northern Virginia this month:

Maya Angelou: And Still I Rise
Jan. 6, 7:30 p.m.
The life and work of Maya Angelou, the inspirational writer and activist, is captured in this cinematic retelling of her life through stories both known and unknown. // Barns of Rose Hill: 95 Chalmers Court, Berryville

The Giver
Jan. 14, 4 p.m.
Adapted from Lois Lowry’s classic novel, this performance unfolds the mysteries behind destiny, individual choices and standing up for what you believe. // The Alden: 1234 Ingleside Ave., McLean

Much Ado About Nothing
Jan. 19-Feb. 12, times vary
Similar to many of Shakespeare’s comedies, this play includes trickery, deception and the twisting turns one couple takes to find true love. // NextStop Theatre Company: 269 Sunset Park Drive, Herndon

The Two Gentlemen of Verona
Jan. 21, 2 p.m.
