These NoVA Activities Make Great Experience Gifts

Skip the stores and get your loved one tickets to a fun event or class.

By Maggie Roth December 13, 2024 at 10:19 am

It can be hard to find a gift for someone who seems to have everything. Instead of gifting something that’s destined to become clutter or eventually be regifted, go for an experience gift. With tickets or gift cards to things like concerts, cooking classes, and other fun things to do, you can offer your giftee memories they’ll never forget. (Bonus: You won’t have to worry about wrapping paper.)

A Concert at Wolf Trap

Everyone loves music, but if you don’t know what kind your giftee likes (Indie rockers? Jazz ensembles?) you can opt for a gift card to Wolf Trap instead of buying tickets outright. That way, your loved one can choose a show they love on a date that works for them. 1551 Trap Rd., Vienna

A Soak at Balian Springs

This spa and wellness club in Alexandria has saunas, hydrotherapy pools and baths, lounges, and wellness workshops included when you visit with a day pass. For additional fees, there are spa treatments like massages and facials. There are gift cards available that make for easy gifting. 6432 General Green Way, Alexandria

An Art Class at Workhouse Arts Center

Let them embrace their creative side with classes on how to paint, sculpt, create stained glass, and beyond. The Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton hosts a mix of multi-session classes and single-session workshops in ceramics, painting, paper and fiber arts, and even improv that would make great experience gifts. 9518 Workhouse Way, Lorton

A Cooking Class

There’s no better time to pick up a new hobby than in the new year. Offer your gift-recipient a chance to learn how to make a new dish at NoVA-area cooking classes. They can learn the art of pasta-making, cocktail-shaking, or even bread-baking.

A Wine Tour with Vineyard Voyages

NoVA is full of great wineries, and a fun way to experience them is through a wine tour. Vineyard Voyages is a convenient tour that takes guests to three different wineries on a day-long tour, with pickup locations at the Falls Church Metro station or downtown Leesburg.
