If you’re looking to learn to make a gourmet meal, or perhaps want to take a workshop with the family, here are five cooking classes to help you discover your inner chef. From food and wine pairings to simpler classes for little ones, learn to make appetizers, desserts, and everything in between.
Cookology
Cookology has everything from private corporate team-building events to themed date nights. One upcoming event on December 22 includes cranberry brie knots and a gingerbread cranberry lemon cheesecake. There are even kids’ options for baking and brunch foods too. 4238 Wilson Blvd., Third Floor, Ste. 3110, Arlington
Sur La Table
The cookware store also offers classes like a date night series with themes like “Winter in Paris” or “Italian Steakhouse.” Other options include breakfast fare like croissants or desserts. There are even classes geared toward families, such as one that introduces pasta with parmesan cheese and gelato for dessert. 326 King St., Alexandria; 1101 S. Joyce St., Ste. B-20, Arlington; 1711 International Dr., Ste. 1010, McLean
The Conche
If you’re a self-professed “chocoholic,” you’ll want to try some of The Conche’s classes, as its goal is to “express their commitment to enhancing life’s special moments and occasions with chocolate,” according to the website. There are cookie decorating workshops and “Mommy and Me” variations, too. The Conche also gives private classes and kids’ birthday parties. 1605 Village Market Blvd. SE, Leesburg
Tiny Chefs
If you have a budding mini chef in your home, you may want to sign them up for a cooking class or two at Tiny Chefs. The business is a recreational cooking program that teaches the delight of kitchen experimentation. After school enrichment classes focus on themes like “Sweet and Savory Snacks” or often go the seasonal route, like gingerbread house decorating. 6100 Franconia Rd., Ste. D, Alexandria
Knead & Know
Sometimes, you just need to know how to make a really good loaf of bread. Knead & Know tackles that idea, and then some. The school offers classes on all the essentials of traditional breadmaking, but it also takes things a step further with bagels, pizza, croissants, and more. 6322 Hopewell Rd., The Plains
