6 local stylists share their fall-fashion essentials

Whether they’re walking the streets of the District or visiting the nearest pumpkin patch in NoVA, here’s a look at this season’s must-haves from our region’s style experts.

By Jess Feldman September 26, 2019 at 4:31 pm

As we near the end of September, it’s officially time to start rearranging the closet for easy access to your favorite leather jackets, jeans and boots. And while you may have plans to stop by local shops for the latest, on-trend pieces, there is no shame in sticking to the staples you know and love when the weather cools down.

To get into the spirit of the season and uncover a little style inspiration, we chatted with some of the region’s most fashionable individuals about what they can’t live without as we move into fall. From locally bought attire to favorite tasty treats, here are the seasonal essentials of six stylists from NoVA and Washington, DC.

Staple Clothing Pieces
Cardigan sweaters, trench coats and blazers. This season, your go-to pieces are all about layering, and these will instantly make your look fashion-forward.

Daily Beauty Products
I am trying to slowly incorporate more clean beauty products into my daily beauty routine. These are a couple that I love:

  • Tata Harper Oil: I apply this beauty oil every morning and love how it smells and feels. It gives a nice glow and radiance.
  • Vintner’s Daughter: This oil has a serious cult following. It’s an infusion of 22 active organic botanicals mixed with essential oils. It leaves my skin glowing and smooth.
  • Caudalie Premier Cru: This is a great moisturizer to use in the evening. It leaves my skin perfectly nourished.

Favorite NoVA Shop
My go-to is Tysons Galleria for client needs and last-minute gifts, but one of my goals is to explore more of the local boutiques.

Apple cider or apple cider doughnuts?
Plain apple cider … warmed up, of course!

Cute or scary for Halloween?
Going to go with cute, because I still get easily scared.

Jumpsuits, over-the-knee boots and a Eugenia Kim fedora.

Daily Beauty Products
I’m loving clean beauty products lately, like First Aid Beauty Fab Skin Lab Retinol Eye Cream and Giovanni L.A. Hold Spritz as my fave hairspray. Also, I could spend all day in the beauty aisle at Mom’s Organic. (Its where I discovered Giovanni!) Plus, nothing beats all-day lip wear like Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kits.

Favorite NoVA Shop
I literally shop everywhere! Sometimes I may even be in Old Town, Mosaic and Tysons all on the same day. Breakfast, lunch and dinner-time shopping …

Starbucks pumpkin spice latte or Dunkin’ Donuts pumpkin spice latte?
Cuban coffee daily … three espresso with sugar.

Pumpkin carving or bobbing for apples?
Pumpkin carving.

Favorite NoVA Shop
Scout & Molly’s in Reston and Ballston.

Pumpkin beer or apple-flavored cider?
Duh, cider.

Cardigan or hoodie?
A cardigan is the perfect layering piece for fall, as there are so many ways to style it.
