Arlington manager proposes 1.5-cent tax rate hike; Limited early voting approved in Virginia

Arlington County Manager Mark Schwartz recommended the elimination of nearly 30 county jobs and a tax rate hike of 1.5 cents on Thursday. The new money raised from the taxes would go to the county’s public schools. (The Washington Post)

The Virginia State General Assembly has approved limited early voting beginning in the fall of 2020. Virginians will be able to vote early that year, from Oct. 24 through Oct. 31, without needing to provide a reason why they’d like to vote early. (InsideNoVA)

An Amazon executive discussed plans for HQ2 in Crystal City on Thursday night, stating the company intends to hire 25,000 people over 12 years, with the hope of “hiring all 25,000 locally.” (WTOP)
