Virginia teachers march in Richmond; Winter weather expected during Tuesday’s commute

Alexandria is back on Smart Asset’s list of the 10 safest cities in America. The city jumped from the No. 4 spot in 2017 to second place for 2018. Considerations for the rankings included rates of violent crime and property crime, as well as drug overdose mortality rates. (WTOP)

Winter weather is expected Tuesday evening, which may affect commutes home from work. The National Weather Service says the area is not expected to see large amounts of snow, but 2-3 inches is predicted for most of Northern Virginia. (Inside NoVA)

Gov. Ralph Norman announced the start of statewide community office hours, in which constituents can have one-on-one meetings with a representative from his office. The first meetings are scheduled for Feb. 4, in Arlington and Woodbridge. (NBC Washington)
