On Tuesday, Gov. Terry McAuliffe was asked by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors to take a stance against a proposed state regulation that would require all child care workers at facilities that receive state child care subsidies to speak English. A two-alarm fire ignited D.C.’s Embassy of Ecuador roof at 12:23 a.m., prompting approximately 20 units and 100 firefighters to arrive at the scene. The fire has since been extinguished and embassy diplomats have been able to walk through the building.

According to new data, Arlington homeowners pay the highest per-square-foot cost in Northern Virginia, beating out Falls Church $474 to $451. Last year, Arlington’s per-square-foot cost came in at $476, while Falls Church’s 2016 cost was $480.

As part of “National Coffee with a Cop Day,” the Arlington County Police Department will hold one event in each of Arlington County’s three police districts on Wednesday, Oct. 4. Officers will visit the Starbucks at Lee Heights from 9-11 a.m., the Starbucks at Pentagon Row from 4-6 p.m., and the Best Buns Bread Company at Shirlington Village from 4-6 p.m.
