In response to President Donald Trump saying in an Alabama rally on Friday that NFL players who “disrespect our flag” should be fired, NFL players from the Baltimore Ravens, Jacksonville Jaguars, New England Patriots, Cleveland Browns, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Buffalo Bills, Detroit Lions, Atlanta Falcons, Denver Broncos, Miami Dolphins, New Orleans Saints and the Philadelphia Eagles kneeled and/or raised their fists during their Sunday games’ national anthems.

A woman walking into the Massaponax, Spotsylvania Southpoint II LongHorn Steakhouse was bit on the foot by a copperhead snake on Sept. 12. The 8-inch-long snake managed to get into the restaurant’s foyer and latch onto the woman’s sandal, the bite causing her foot and leg to swell before given Antivenin intravenously.

Sunday, the Maryland Department of Agriculture stated that 11 pigs from the Great Frederick Fair have been infected with Influenza A. The fair’s pig barn has been closed, and though it is still unclear if the Influenza A strain is transmissible from pig to human, one child that had been near the fair’s pigs has been hospitalized for flu-like symptoms (fever, cough and sore throat). Recently, seven people at the Charles County fair fell ill after being in contact with pigs that had been exhibited there.

For the last five years, the 14th day of the month has always seen protests outside the National Rifle Association headquarters in Fairfax. However, this past protest was unique as the documentary film crew from Warrior Poets media group were following Lori Haas, a Reston-Herndon Coalition advocate whose daughter was injured in the 2007 shooting at Virginia Tech. The crew intends for the documentary to be aired on SpikeTV.
