Certified transitional, that new label you’re seeing on foods, is the newest program and moniker by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Marketing Service. Earlier this year the department announced the program, which notes produce and other foods that are going through the stages of becoming certified organic. This program is in partnership with the Organic Trade Association and is part of a larger goal of expanding certified-organic land in the United States.
