Ireland’s Four Courts in Arlington plans to reopen in August, one year after a ride share driver in medical distress crashed into the pub and restaurant.
“We are looking forward to welcoming everyone back to Ireland’s Four Courts in August 2023,” said a message on its Facebook page posted on April 6.
A picture of what the pub would look like accompanied the post, and is on the restaurant’s website. The exterior would be green with the lettering for the business name in gold on a brown background. The previous building was red, with the business name in gold on a black background.
Facebook readers welcomed the news, with some calling it “awesome” and “wonderful.”
“So glad you guys are coming back soon! So many memories in the old place! retirement celebrations, birthdays, first dates, Sunday brunch … the list goes and on. And such proud supporters of law enforcement and first responders. Couldn’t imagine Courthouse without you guys! Cheers!! Look forward to the reopening!” wrote Ireland’s Four Courts supporter Mike Kennedy.
“It’s not the same without you guys. My nephew and I can’t find a good place to watch EPL matches or DC United away matches,” wrote Sandro C. Trigo, who also misses the potato soup.
“Looking forward to having a pint!” Sean Mullen wrote.
The August 12, 2022, crash into the Wilson Boulevard restaurant occurred at 6:45 p.m. on a Friday, injuring 15 people and causing a huge fire that destroyed the building. All of the people who were hurt have recovered. The police department, after consulting with the Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney, announced in October that the Uber driver would not be charged.
Other restaurants rallied to help Ireland’s Four Courts with fundraisers and hiring its workers. A GoFundMe campaign raised more than $95,000 to help the bar.
