This Vienna Native has got the voice, songwriting ability and know-how to make it big. With the release of her first album at the age of only 21, she is quickly crooning her way toward a bright future in the music industry.
On her first album
“I hope people will see it as a really good first album. I call it ‘Threads’ because it’s a good representation of my songwriting so far. It also ties together several different styles that I love—blues, rock, soulful ballads and a little country.
On finding inspiration
“I think most good songwriters can see a song in everything, and everything in a song. Songwriters are always looking for inspiration, but many times the inspiration will come to you in spite of what you do.”
On how she knew she would be a singer/songwriter
“I’ve heard some really great musicians say that they didn’t choose music, that music chose them. That’s the way I feel. I first attended the UVA Young Writers Workshop program after the 8th grade, and I was immediately hooked on songwriting.”
On being the first graduate of the Creative American Music program
“I am profoundly grateful to Bruce Hornsby and the University of Miami’s music school for giving me the opportunity to grow into songwriting, and for creating the unbelievable environment that allowed me to progress to the point where I can actually do this as a career.”
On her music icon
“It’s impossible to name just one. I love Carole King, Bonnie Raitt, Janis Joplin. I also love Wilson Pickett and James Brown.”
On her future plans
“I am working on a short summer tour, working on some new songs and assembling an awesome band to play with.”
On her success at a young age
“I am very blessed, but, to be honest, some of the best musicians I know and play with are younger than I am. The key is to believe in yourself and your music, and keep on playing.”

“It will be rocking. You’ve gotta come out!”
On music and life
“Music really is a universal language, but it’s so much more than that. I believe it’s just as essential to our well-being as are food, clothing and transportation. I just want to get better and keep playing songs that stir the pot.”
