8 Northern Virginia Destinations for Ziplining Fun

These local parks offer courses for all ages and skill levels.

Looking for a new adventure the whole family can enjoy? Mix up your recreational time with a ziplining course. There are options for all ages and skill levels, with both indoor and outdoor option.

Bear Mountain Ziplines

Take in more than 50 acres of scenic forest as you zipline at this family-owned and operated business in Luray. Reservations are recommended, as they don’t always have the option to accommodate walk-ins. 2354 Lee Hwy., Luray

Climb Upton

A 90-element vertical adventure at Upton Hill Regional Park includes a multi-level climbing course with a zipline and free fall. Guests are welcome to book a group, party, or individual climb. 6060 Wilson Blvd., Arlington

Fun Land Fredericksburg

Fun Land’s Sky Trail is an indoor ropes course with more than two dozen challenges and a zipline that flies high above the arcade. If you buy a FUNpass or FUNpass+, the attraction is included, and you get unlimited access all day. 1351 Central Park Blvd., Fredericksburg

Go Ape

This adventure park offers packages to zipline through the treetops of Springfield. Those new to the activity should start with the “Treetop Journey” introductory course that includes one hour of aerial adventure. The park includes 30 unique obstacles, a platform that reaches 27 feet, and its longest zipline, offered at 140 feet. 7550 Reservation Dr., Springfield

Harper’s Ferry Adventure Center

Check out seven different ziplines and travel a 100-foot sky bridge. Zips are 40 feet high and 425 feet long, and there are shower facilities and a brewery on-site. Sneakers or closed-toe shoes are required, athletic wear is advised, and riders shouldn’t wear loose clothing. 37410 Adventure Center Ln., Purcellville

River Riders Family Adventure Resort

The Harpers Ferry Zipline Tour at River Riders Family Adventure Resort is an approximately two-and-a-half to three-hour tour with a professional guide. You’ll experience an adventure through seven different ziplines, including a free fall rappel to conclude the course. 408 Alstadts Hill Rd., Harpers Ferry, WV

Salamander Adventures

Salamander Middleburg has a ziplining excursion that includes treetop courses, exhilarating views, and sky bridges. Little ones can even participate with a “Kiddos Zips” program that operates daily at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. 500 North Pendleton St., Middleburg

Up! Ultimate Adventure Park

This park in Ashburn has a two-story ropes course that finishes with a zipline. There are also themed climbing walls, an arcade, and customized birthday party options. 20051 Riverside Commons Plaza, Ste. 136, Ashburn
