Big-name chefs are coming to Middleburg’s Salamander Resort & Spa

The Family Reunion celebration will include a nine-day residency for former Kith/Kin chef Kwame Onwuachi.

By Alice Levitt February 4, 2021 at 10:07 am

Salamander Hotels & Resorts and Food & Wine magazine have announced the debut of a four-day culinary extravaganza that will take place in Middleburg.  Co-hosted by DC-area chef and author Kwame Onwuachi and Salamander founder Sheila Johnson, The Family Reunion will include other big names like Carla Hall, Edouardo Jordan, Nina Compton, Carlton McCoy, Gregory Gourdet, Mashama Bailey, Rodney Scott, Tavel Bristol-Joseph and Pierre Thiam. The event will take place Aug. 19-22 and will celebrate diversity in the hospitality industry with a packed schedule of cooking classes and demonstrations, wine tastings and dinners and thought-provoking panel discussions, all featuring the chefs, sommeliers and other industry leaders who are changing the game for the next generation. Tickets will go on sale in April.

But perhaps the most exciting news for locals is that Onwuachi will be the chef-in-residence at Salamander for nine days before The Family Reunion. His menu will be focused on dishes that highlight his Afro-Caribbean heritage, a rare treat for Loudoun County. We’ll report more details as they become available. // 500 N. Pendleton St., Middleburg
