Award-winning Vienna restaurant Clarity is eager to complete its new outpost near Reston Town Center, with a goal to be open for business in the spring of 2026.
“We’ve been in Vienna for so long, but we’ve always kind of had our eye on the Reston spot,” says Mackenzie Ryan, Clarity’s director of marketing. “It just stood out as ideal for us — just the dynamic mix of offices and residences and the dedication for that group over there that’s really crafting a truly unique destination.”
The restaurant’s Vienna location is renowned for blending casual New American fine dining with a creative spin. It has won Rammy Awards and was on our Best Restaurants list in 2024.
Guests can enjoy à la carte options or a seasonal four-course prix fixe menu, sourced from local farmers and crafted in-house. Expect the same upscale, farm-to-table experience at the Reston location.
“Our chef, Matthew Cockrell, has an extensive knowledge in French cuisine, so he’s taking dishes right now that we’ve had for a long time and he’s kind of bringing them up a level,” Ryan says. “We have a range of everything; our Bolognese is just out of this world. … The Alaskan halibut is definitely something that will not be going anywhere, but we update our menu daily, so we kind of change things in and out.”

It will be located at 1996 Opportunity Way, Reston, in ground-floor retail space at the new Fannie Mae high-rise. Clarity’s Reston space will cater to the large population of VW and Fannie Mae employees headquartered nearby. Expect vibrant lunch offerings and a robust happy hour.
“We want it to be upscale but inviting to everybody,” says Ryan. “It’s very seasonal, very farm-to-table, and we’re constantly getting creative.”
The new Clarity will have multiple private dining rooms and a covered patio. Renderings of the new restaurant show the comfortable space will include a marble-topped bar with brass finishes and TV screens, floor-to-ceiling wine displays, and private dining nooks.
“The best thing about this restaurant is just the daily updates,” Ryan says. “I would say our seasonality is great and just our ever-changing menu and our vibe is just a presence to experience.”
