Celebrate the beginning of autumn with a glass of local wine and breathtaking views. Head to these wineries in and around Northern Virginia to toast the start of the season.

Hope Flower Farm and Winery

Take in the crisp fall air at this scenic 25-acre Loudoun County working farm and winery, which is open Thursday through Sunday. Take a self-guided walking tour of the grounds and visit the circa-1800s manor and carriage houses, gardens, and dairy and event barns. A Virginia Wine Month Rosé Celebration at Bluemont Vineyard

October 2–4 

Bluemont is kicking off Virginia Wine Month with a celebration of the brand’s Daydream Rosé and a Pink Ribbon Vine Walk. Cigar and Wine Tasting at Crimson Lane Vineyards

October 3, 6:30–8:30 p.m. 

This guided tasting is held on the property’s east porch and led by Crimson wine ambassador Chris Jenkins. It includes a curated flight of three wines plus light bites such as charcuterie and empanadas. Haunted Wine Tour at The Winery at Bull Run

September 29–October 29 

Combine sips and scares on this one-hour, lantern-led walking tour at The Winery at Bull Run. You’ll walk the historic property while tour guides share Civil War ghost stories. Tickets include a souvenir wine glass, a tasting throughout the tour, and after-hours access to the winery. Cana Vineyards Annual Harvest Festival

October 10, 11 a.m.–6 p.m. 

Toast the growing season on this stunning 43-acre property near historic downtown Middleburg. The event features local artisan vendors, so you can shop as you sip Cana’s petit verdot, cabernet franc, rosé, or chardonnay. 8600 Little River Tpk., Middleburg, free admission 

Anniversary Celebration and K9s in the Vines at The Winery at La Grange 

October 10 

This 20-acre Haymarket winery is marking its 20th anniversary. To celebrate, La Grange will be hosting wine drinkers and their canine companions during its Fall Fest and K9s in the Vines Dog Walk. The day will include live music, vendors, and adoption agencies on hand to help find pups their forever homes. Fall Family Market & Harvest Celebration at Hillsborough

October 17, noon–6 p.m. 

Head to Hillsborough Winery & Brewery’s 36-acre Loudoun County property for an afternoon filled with locally crafted wine and beer. You’ll also find artisans selling handcrafted goods and fresh produce at this family-friendly event honoring the fall harvest. 36716 Charles Town Pk., Hillsboro, free admission

Outdoor Tents at Potomac Point Vineyard & Winery

Beginning October 22 

Bundle up in your fall apparel and cozy up with friends at this 23-acre Stafford winery. The private, heated wine tents comfortably seat four to 12 people with views of the vineyards. Harvest Celebration Dinner at Arterra Wines

October 24, 6:30–9 p.m. 

This festive dinner celebrating the fall harvest includes a presentation by winemaker Jason Murray followed by tableside dialogue. Harvest Festival at Breaux Vineyards

October 24 and 25, 11 a.m.–6 p.m. 

Celebrate Breaux’s fall harvest at this scenic Purcellville vineyard. The annual, family-friendly event includes contests, local artisan vendors, and music throughout the day by local musicians including Electric Company and Lenny Burridge. 36888 Breaux Vineyards Ln., Purcellville, free admission 

Harvest Dinner at Stone Tower Winery

November 13  

Stone Tower will cap off the harvest season with a celebratory five-course wine pairing dinner. Return on November 25 to run off some calories before the holiday season at the 1.5-mile Turkey Trek. LoCo Wine Festival at Old Farm Winery at Hartland

November 21 and 22, noon–5 p.m. 

Enjoy food, live music, and tastings from a variety of wineries — plus the chance to meet the vintners. Your ticket also includes a souvenir logo 5-ounce glass.
