A pop-up event highlighting banned books is back by popular demand. Morrison House in Old Town Alexandria will again be hosting a Banned Book Speakeasy from November 10 to 14.

The fourth annual event returns with The Restricted Collection, a new series “inspired by the stories that have been restricted, challenged, and banned.” The series will open with Volume 1: Scandal, which will be held in the The Study at Morrison House.
A timed-entry ticket isn’t the only thing needed to gain access. Guests will need to locate the Office of Restricted Literature in order to slip into the hidden speakeasy.

Once inside, guests can enjoy live piano music and order from a banned and challenged book–inspired drinks menu. Cocktails and mocktails will spotlight different banned and challenged books.
Tickets for the speakeasy are $12 per person, with $5 from each ticket benefitting the Virginia Library Association. Early access to tickets is available starting Friday, October 9 for The Study’s newsletter subscribers. Tickets for the general public are on sale starting Sunday, October 11.
