Fairfax-based Ox Hill Cos., the company proposing a performing arts center in Old Town Fairfax called The Ox, said it now has a strategic partnership with ASM Global, the live events management company used by Capital One Hall in Tysons.
“We’re excited to bring ASM Global’s unparalleled expertise in theater and music hall management to The Ox, Fairfax,” said Chris Smith, managing principal of Ox Hill Cos., in a news release.
“This collaboration underscores our commitment to delivering exceptional experiences and enhancing the cultural fabric of Fairfax City. With ASM Global’s extensive international experience and ability to tailor venue calendars to the needs and interests of local markets, we believe The Ox will become a premier destination for the arts in Northern Virginia,” Smith said.
Ox Hill Cos. said ASM Global’s existing relationships would help bring top talent and entertainers to Fairfax.
Legends, another live sports and entertainment events company, recently acquired ASM Global. Legends has said that for now ASM Global will operate under its own name. Legends partners with major golf tournaments to run events, as well as with stadiums and other venues.
“We’re honored to be selected to operate The Ox, Fairfax, and help serve the Fairfax community,” said Liam Thornton, ASM Global executive vice president of strategy and development. “ASM Global manages multiple venues in Virginia — big and small — so we have a tremendous affinity for the region.”
ASM Global’s hundreds of clients include Altria Theater in Richmond, the John Paul Jones Arena where the University of Virginia plays, and Pier Six Pavilion in Baltimore.
The redevelopment project on 3.5 acres near the heart of Fairfax calls for a 2,410-seat music hall, an upscale hotel, a green gallery, a 100-seat “box” theater, five restaurants, offices, and retail spaces. The project is still seeking approval from the Fairfax City Council, which took a closer look at the plans in April. The developer wants to see it completed in 2028.
Ox Hill Companies holds a one-hour town hall meeting on its plans at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 10, at The Sherwood Center at 3740 Blenheim Blvd.
