Ultraviolet radiation from the sun and indoor tanning not only increases your risk of skin cancer, but it is also linked to skin aging, according to a recent study by dermatologist Arianne Shadi Kourosh, M.D., MPH. Air pollution can also negatively affect your skin. Kourosh suggests protecting your skin from the environment by using sunscreen and wearing protective clothing and sunglasses when out in the sun for longer periods of time.
