Dulles Airport Is Looking to Add a New VIP Facility

Dulles International Airport is looking to upgrade its passenger experience. The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority plans to solicit contractors to develop, lease, and operate a new VIP facility. The stand-alone building would allow passengers to bypass the airport’s main terminal and concourses.

MWAA spokesperson Crystal Nosal told the Washington Business Journal that the area will be accessible to all passengers willing to pay for the experience. “A VIP is essentially going to be any paying customer who wants to use that type of service. So if you can pay for it, you’re VIP,” she said.

The VIP facility will be built on a 51,000 square feet space near Dulles’ Cargo 6 building located along Air Freight Lane. MWAA would contract out passenger screening as well as passenger and luggage transportation to and from the gates. The contactor must also provide food and bar service, private suites, restrooms, and Wi-Fi.

MWAA is offering a 20-year contract for the project that’s estimated at $62.6 million. The facility’s construction should take about two and a half years.

MWAA had previously issued a solicitation for a VIP area in 2023, but it was cancelled in May.
