6 new nonstop flights flying around the world from Dulles International Airport

Over the past year, several airlines have announced direct flights from Dulles to destinations around the country and globe.

For global travelers and desk daydreamers alike, nonstop flights from Dulles International Airport give Northern Virginia residents the world at their fingertips. And the world continues to get closer to home with announcements of airlines offering more direct flights from Dulles. Continue reading to find out what’s new and what’s coming to the local, international airport.

Destination: Minneapolis, Minnesota
Airline: Sun Country Airlines

Beginning on April 25, Sun Country Airlines will offer nonstop flights from Dulles to Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport. It will operate the direct flight four times a week before transitioning to a daily flight schedule on June 10.

Destination: Rome, Italy

Airline: Alitalia

Alitalia is beginning five, weekly nonstop flights to Rome in May. The airline will land and depart from Rome Fiumicino International Airport, and service begins on May 2.

Destination: Tel Aviv, Israel

Airline: United Airlines

The first-ever nonstop service from the DC area to Tel Aviv, the service from Dulles will begin on May 22, with three departures a week on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Destination: Lisbon, Portugal

Airline: TAP Air Portugal 

Portugal’s leading airline will begin direct flights to Lisbon five days a week from Dulles International Airport. Service to Lisbon begins on June 16. Economy cabin fare starts at $265 one-way and executive business-class fares begin at $1,456 one-way.

Destination: Lexington, Kentucky

Airline: United Airlines

United Airlines’ new nonstop service between Blue Grass Airport and Dulles International began on Feb. 14, replacing United’s service to Newark, New Jersey, which concluded on Feb. 13. The airline now offers two daily flights to Central Kentucky and is flown on a 50-seat aircraft.

Destination: Hong Kong, China

Airline: Cathay Pacific

Cathay Pacific is the first air carrier to offer nonstop flights from Dulles to Hong Kong. The service started in September of 2018. It is the longest nonstop air route to Hong Kong and the DC region, and is also the longest flight in Cathay Pacific’s global network with a total of 7,085 nautical miles. The airline departs from Dulles on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
