Gone Country
Last year, I became so obsessed with the Battlefield Country Store in Fredericksburg that it made the cover of our Hidden Foodie Gems issue. Now, it’s time to venture outside my usual stomping grounds for another country store discover. I’m thinking The Dilly Dally in Salem and its Nathan’s hot dogs (my favorite brand) might just be my next big discovery. –Alice Levitt, food editor/critic
Biney Is Back
Jill Devine wrote a great profile of Maame Biney‘s barrier-breaking coming-of-age in NoVA, and Biney is now in the thick of the Olympics speed-skating competition. Even though she was just eliminated from the 500-meter, she’s still got the 1,000 meter and the 1,500 meter just ahead of her. –James Finley, senior editor
Game On
In my household, there are very few sports traditions as sacred as attending the Washington Capitals game on Super Bowl Sunday. For years, we would wake up early and make our way down the Beltway for the afternoon showdown. I mean, we even traveled through the aftermath of the 2010 blizzard to make it to the Caps/Penguins game. Since I haven’t been able to attend since my freshman year of college, I’m enjoying a belated birthday celebration at Capital One Arena this Sunday. –Michele Kettner, associate digital & research editor
It Won’t Be Long
I would love to see 1964! The Tribute when they hit the Barns at Wolf Trap this weekend! I’ve seen them three times, interviewed them once, and they are always a ball. Audiences react to them like crazy, and when they’re so faithful to the greatest songbook of all time, how can you go wrong? –Kelly Kendall, editor
