Getting Schooled
Having moved to NoVA in the thick of the pandemic, I haven’t had the opportunity to go to any museums in the area yet. I’m a history buff and I’m eager to learn more about the region. That’s why I’m heading to Lucasville School in Manassas for one of its open house days. The reconstructed schoolhouse that dates back to the 19th century is the place to educate myself about the story of Black residents of Prince William County. I can’t wait to share some local history facts with my colleagues. // 10516 Godwin Dr, Manassas –Alice Levitt, food editor/critic
Good Night Sleep
Going into 2021, I decided I was going to start updating some of the products that I use on the daily for higher quality items. Earlier this month I said goodbye to my drugstore hair products and my hair care couldn’t be happier. Now, I’m on to the next upgrade. Once I heard about Down Cotton I knew it was time to upgrade my bedding. I can already see myself getting better sleep with these Egyptian cotton sheets. Now I just need to make a quick run to Target for toasty throws and cute spring pillows to complete the look. –Michele Kettner, associate digital & research editor
More Movies
Raise your hand if you’ve watched more television in the past year than you care to admit. Do you remember that commercial from the 1990s about reaching the “end of the internet”? I feel like that’s where I am with my Netflix (and Hulu and Disney+ and …) queue. Luckily, my colleague has rounded up movies to stream that all feature scenes set in or filmed in Northern Virginia. Since my job is to write about Northern Virginia, I’m pretty sure this counts as research? You can find me on the couch, yet again, this weekend. –Katie Bianco, editor
