The annual Smithsonian Craft Show is back this month. The event offers visitors a chance to see a selection of handcrafted, American artisanal works from more than 120 artists.
The show runs April 22 to 26 at the National Building Museum.
This will be the 44th annual Smithsonian Craft Show. The event, produced by the Smithsonian Women’s Committee, aims to celebrate “the finest in American craft and design,” according to a news release.
“Our show’s proceeds underwrite grants for Smithsonian projects that support innovative education, enhance knowledge, research and outreach in areas of culture, arts, mysteries of the universe, biodiversity and the American experience,” said show co-chair Barbara Rapp.
To put together the event, a panel of jurors selected dozens of artists who make basketry, ceramics, decorative fiber, furniture, glass, jewelry, leather, metal, mixed-media, paper, wearable art, and wood.
Two artists will receive awards at the show. Ceramic artist Wayne Higby will receive the Smithsonian Visionary Award, and ceramic artist Cristina Cordova will receive the Smithsonian Women’s Committee’s Delphi Award.
The show runs April 23 to 25 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 26. There is a Preview Night Benefit on April 22.
General admission tickets are $25 per person. 401 F St. NW, Washington, DC
