The National Building Museum in Washington, DC, will transform its Great Hall into an indoor ice rink again this year. The Winter Skate Spectacular (previously called the Holiday Skate Spectacular) runs from December 27 to February 8, 2026.
At this event, guests can spin around the synthetic rink, surrounded by the Great Hall’s Corinthian columns. After skating, they can explore the rest of the museum’s exhibits and enjoy Japanese dishes from onsite café Konbini by Daikaya.
This year’s skating festivities are available Thursdays through Mondays, with daytime skating hours from noon to 5 p.m. There are also after-hours skating times, which run Thursdays and Fridays from 6 to 8 p.m.
“Toddler Time” sessions will be held on Thursdays and Fridays from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. following the museum’s story time events. And museum members can access members-only sessions Saturdays and Sundays from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Skaters will need to purchase a ticket. Tickets run $12 to $20 for both daytime and after-hours tickets. Daytime passes include one hour of skating time and admission to the museum, and after-hours passes include two hours of skating time.
Throughout the season, there will be 10 themed skating nights with DJs. Those include:

- January 9: Divas Night
- January 15: Motown Night
- January 16: K-Pop Night
- January 22: ’90s Hip-Hop & R&B
- January 23: Latin Hits
- January 29: ’80s Hits
- January 30: Go-Go
