Don’t Miss the Historic Alexandria Homes Tour

The tour includes homes with original and preserved structures, curated artwork, and historical collections.

This year marks the 83rd for the annual Historic Alexandria Homes Tour. The event will be held on Saturday, September 27, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and tickets typically sell out.

The self-guided walking tour includes both homes and gardens in Old Town Alexandria. Home tour highlights often include original and preserved structures, curated artwork, and historical collections.

The Historic Alexandria Homes Tour began in 1941. It was originally hosted by the Hospital’s Senior Auxiliary to raise money for Alexandria Hospital, now Inova Alexandria Hospital. It’s now hosted by The Twig, The Junior Auxiliary of the Inova Alexandria Hospital.

The Twig operates a thrift shop in Old Town Alexandria. It raises funds through the homes tour as well as a variety of smaller fundraisers, including the sale of a popular series of cookbooks.

On the day of the tour, participants check in and receive a wrist band and tour book at one of two locations in Old Town Alexandria: The Twig Thrift Shop at 106 N. Columbus St. or Boxwood at 1205 King St.

Tickets are now on sale, and there are multiple ticket level options available. Prices begin at $5 for access to an online tour and $45 for one ticket to the walking tour.
