Summer is in full swing. Add these Northern Virginia July festivals featuring sunflowers, a petting zoo, wine, and even fairies to your lineup of things to do this month.
Summer of Sunflowers
July 11 to August 14
Great Country Farms is hosting its annual Summer of Sunflowers festival starting July 11. Guests can cut their own sunflowers for $1 per bloom. There is also an option to add on a French bucket with 20 cut your own blooms. Attendees can borrow clippers from the farm market or bring their own. Patriotic Festival at Marker-Miller Orchards Farm Market
July 11, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Marker-Miller Orchards in Winchester is celebrating their 2026 season and Independence Day with a day-long festival. There will be peaches and fresh garden vegetables available in the market, baked goods, scenic wagon rides, a cow train for kids, and live music from Robbie Limon from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Blue Ridge Bar-B-Q will be serving food throughout the day. Key West Fest

If you can’t make it to Florida this summer, Breaux Vineyard’s tropical extravaganza will have you feeling like you’ve been instantly teleported to Key West. Admission includes entry as well as a souvenir glass and lei. Wine and food will be sold separately, and leashed, friendly dogs are welcome in outdoor grassy areas. Chillin’ on Church
July 17, 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Vienna brings a classic block party with Chillin’ on Church. In addition to the July date, the party will also take place on the third Friday in August and September. The event will include about a dozen food trucks, local beer and wine, music, and family-friendly activities. 144 Maple Ave. E, Vienna, free
Fairy Festival
July 18, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Visit Walker Nature Center to wander along a woodland trail that will be decorated with colorful fairy houses. Fairies and mushrooms will be hidden along the trail to discover. After your stroll, a Fairy Queen will read a story as attendees have a tea party. There will also be crafts, including making a fairy house. Both children and adults are welcome to wear fairy costumes. There will be an option for entering a fairy house contest, where guests can make a house at their home, and bring it to the center for a chance to win prizes. Purcellville Wine & Food Festival
July 18, 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The annual event that draws thousands includes live music by groups like The Darby Brothers and Rick Reaves. Local vendors and art demonstrations will be featured, as well as plenty of local wineries, vineyards, and breweries. This year’s event will take place at Dillon’s Woods, a 13-acre forest and historic park in Purcellville. 250 S. Nursery Ave., Purcellville, $5 to $42

Fourth Anniversary Petting Zoo
July 26, noon to 6 p.m.
Shipgarten is hosting its fourth annual petting zoo. Little ones can get close to farm animals in an interactive setting then burn off some energy in moon bounces and get their faces painted afterward.
