Find a Free National Night Out Event Near You in Northern Virginia

The nationwide campaign aims to promote police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie.

National Night Out is being celebrated today, August 5, with activities all over NoVA. The annual event, held on the first Tuesday of August, is a law enforcement campaign that seeks to build police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. By engaging with the public at these one-on-one events, police departments hope to make neighborhoods safer places to live.

Free events will be held across Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William counties. Here’s a roundup of some you can join.

Arlington County National Night Out Events

Arlington County is hosting events at these and other locations. The full list is here.

  • Amazon, 510 14th St. St., 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Apex Apartments, 2910 S. Glebe Rd., 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  • Arlington Historical Society and Arlington Ridge Civic Association, 1805 S. Arlington Ridge Rd., 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Arlington Mill Residences, True Ground Housing Partners, 901 S. Dinwiddie St., 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
  • Barcroft Apartments, 1130 S. George Mason Dr., 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
  • Fort Henry Gardens., 2470 S. Lowell St., 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Green Valley Civic Association, 2400 Shirlington Rd., 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Hunter’s Park Apartments, 2021 N. Nelson St., 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Lyon Village Citizens Association, 1800 N. Highland St., 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Metro Transit Police Department in Pentagon City, 1201 S. Hayes St., 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.


Fairfax County National Night Out Events

These events are being held at area community centers:

  • Cathy Hudgins Community Center at Southgate, Reston, 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.: Games, BBQ, snow cones, resources 
  • David R. Pinn Community Center, Fairfax, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.: Ice Cream, games
  • Gum Springs Community Center, Alexandria, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.: Community carnival, games, music, resources
  • Huntington Community Center, Alexandria, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.: Community potluck and bluegrass music; 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.: community movie night
  • Hybla Valley Community Center, Alexandria, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.: Games, food, resources (Partnership with Good Shepherd Housing and Colchester Towne)
  • Kingsley Commons, Falls Church, 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.: Ice cream social
  • Lorton Community Center, Lorton, 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.: Family gym night with games, vendors, and food
  • James Lee Community Center, Falls Church, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.: Food, ice cream, music, crafts  
  • Jim Scott Community Center, Fairfax, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.: Pizza, games
  • Minnie H. Peyton Community Center at Bailey’s, Falls Church, 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.: Ice cream social  
  • Mott Community Center, Fairfax, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.: Cookout
  • Reston Teen Center, Reston, 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.: Music, volleyball, ice cream 
  • Sully Community Center, Herndon, 6 p.m.: Cookout, snow cones, games
  • Willston Multicultural Center, Falls Church, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.: Ice cream social

Loudoun County National Night Out

Douglass Community Center Playground, 405 E. Market St., 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.: Free food and refreshments; Games and activities for kids; demonstrations from LPD and our public safety partners; visit with community organizations; and giveaways

National Night Out at Manassas Park

Signal Hill Park, 9300 Signal View Dr., Manassas Park, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.: Free food from Chick-fil-A, McDonald’s, Domino’s, 7-Eleven, and Nathan’s; 65-plus vendors; helicopter appearance; two live K-9 demonstrations; free water park access from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.; free onsite parking; games.
