There are carnival games, rides, and farm shows galore at the upcoming Fairfax County 4-H Fair and Carnival. Visit Frying Pan Farm Park July 31 through August 3 for old-fashioned family fun and to experience the passion of community and youth leadership with the 4-H program.

This summer, the 4-H Fair offers farm demonstrations, animal exhibits, live music, and delicious food. Make sure to check out the carnival — open all four days — which features exciting rides, games, a carousel, and a playground.

As America’s largest youth development organization, 4-H aims to provide kids and teens with real-world experience in critical societal issues. That includes engaging in civil discourse and advocating for equity and inclusion. Hands-on projects in health, science, and agriculture help encourage leadership and civic engagement.

“At its heart, the Fairfax County Carnival and Fair is about bringing people together,” says Jai Cole, executive director of the Fairfax County Park Authority. “Through our strong partnerships and community support, this event offers a vibrant space where families can enjoy classic fair fun, explore local resources, and build lasting memories.”

On Friday, August 1, visit Big Truck Night at the farmyard and attend the 4-H barn exhibit and apiary judging. A pet show, horse demos, dog demos, and free educational activities are available on August 2. The final day of the fair, August 3, will feature pig, goat, sheep, and cow shows.

Admission to the fair and carnival is free. Tickets for rides and games are $25 per person on Thursday and Friday. Each ticket includes an unlimited ride wristband good for one day only, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Purchase regular tickets on site for $1.25 each on Saturday and Sunday; no unlimited wristbands are available on these days.
