Burnside Farms Kicks Off the Summer of Sunflowers this Weekend

Tickets for the annual summer event, now with new entertainment options, go on sale tomorrow.

Sunflower season officially starts now in Northern Virginia. Burnside Farms has announced that its Summer of Sunflowers will start this Friday and run until early August. Tickets go on sale tomorrow, July 8, at noon.

Located in the small town of Nokesville, Burnside Farms has planted over 30 varieties of “cutting” sunflowers on more than 70 acres of land to ensure weeks of blooming flowers. This family-friendly event is perfect for a nice summer day in the sun.

This year, Burnside plans to host special events throughout the month that you won’t want to miss.

Foamy Fridays, set for Fridays after 4 p.m., are evenings full of soapy bubbles to play in and beats from visiting DJs. Friday and Saturday evenings will include roaming performances where the farm turns into a carnival with street performances, including jugglers, stilt walkers, and hoop spinners.

Also on Saturdays, Burnside is hosting a summer concert series. It starts July 12 with a Taylor Swift tribute. On Sundays, plan to relax with local musicians on the main stage in the afternoon.

Burnside Farms also includes three 4-acre sunflower mazes, with one maze blooming each week. Check out local food and drink vendors every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evening.

Along with your visit to enjoy the colorful flowers, each ticket includes three free sunflowers, unlimited hayrides, and access to the farm’s new playground. The new 4,400-square-foot tulip- and sunflower-themed playground provides a vibrant, nature-inspired space for outdoor fun.

Additional sunflowers are $1.50 per stem. Burnside Farms expects its sunflower season to last until about August 3, so go visit while you can. Farm hours are 6 a.m. to noon and 4 p.m. to dusk on Saturdays and Sundays, and from 8 a.m. to noon and 4 p.m. to dusk on weekdays. Tickets must be purchased in advance and start at $15; ages 5 and under are free. Burnside Farms: 11008 Kettle Run Rd., Nokesville
